How to create a simple skincare routine?

Today all the stores are overflowing with tons of new products, brands and formulas that promise overnight benefits. This can be truly overwhelming, so I want to talk about skincare product types that in my opinion should be incorporated into everyone’s skincare routine.

What skincare products do I absolutely need in my skincare routine?
Cleanser : a MUST have for everyone to remove all the dirt/pollution/makeup from the day
When to use it? Morning and/or night depending on your skin type. For dry skins in the morning is usually fine to wash the face only with water, however oily skins benefit from a gentle cleanser in the morning to wash off the oil residue the accumulated during the night
Serum : I am a firm believer that within your skincare routine a serum is the most important step because of the active ingredients that penetrates more deeply to the skin. Personally, I started using hydrating serums at the age of 17 and I am very happy I did. You can find all types of serums adapted to your needs.
When to use it? Morning and night and if you can, use different types of serums depending on your skin needs (I like using Vitamin C serum in the morning and a hydrating one at night)
Cream : always use a cream, no matter what your skin type is. This is an important step to keep your skin hydrated. Face creams do not penetrate in the deeper layer of your skin, so don’t spend too much money on them, a good hydrating cream is enough and today there is a plethora of formulas to choose from that will be adapted to your skin type and your preferences (rich creams, gel creams, etc)
When to use it? Morning & night. Feel free to use specific day/night creams if you want a lighter one in the morning and a richer texture at night (that’s what I like to do). But if you only have one it’s totally fine
SPF : do yourself a favor and start using sun protection every day. It is the best anti-aging product you can have! It will prevent sun damage, sunspots, wrinkles and the overall premature aging effects created by the UVA and UVB rays
When to use it? Morning, after your face cream
Bonus skincare products
Below are skincare products that are nice to have but if you only have limited amount to spend on your skincare, focus on the products above.
Essence/toner : I absolutely LOVE using hydrating essences!!! As I said, I have been using hydrating serums for a long time now, but the moment I added a hydrating essence to my skincare routine, I saw a big difference. I don’t think you absolutely need an essence in your routine, however it is a nice thing to have when you have a little extra time
Eye cream : it is nice to have a specific eye cream especially if you have sensitive eyes.
Face oil : it is nice to have an oil if you have a dry skin, especially for colder months
Face masks : if you have good serums & creams you probably don’t need a face mask but I like to use hydrating masks when I want some pampering time
Hope this helps!
XOXO have a glowing skin
